Welcome to Living SJ – the social renewal strategy for the Greater Saint John Community

Living SJ: Building a Movement

Join us on Thursday, June 9, at the Nick Nicolle Centre (85 Durham St., Saint John) from 8:30-11:00 a.m., as we continue to build the Living SJ movement to end generational poverty in Saint John.

It’s a serious topic, but we’re going to have some fun too. (Any #jenga fans out there?)

Our focus:

•   Building the movement to end generational poverty in Saint John

•   How are we doing and what can we do next?

All are welcome. Please share this invitation with others from your organization, board, department or neighbourhood!

Agenda for the morning:

8:30-9:00 Coffee & Connecting

9:00-11:00 Presentation & Small Group Discussions

In the words of author and social innovator, Al Etmanski, “When you think and act like a movement, you strengthen the specific work you are doing.”

Please RSVP by Monday, May 30, to Gina Hawker at gina@unitedwaysaintjohn.com.

2015 marks the implementation of Living SJ, our roadmap forward. After undertaking extensive review of the social conditions in Greater Saint John, a new approach to poverty has been developed.

Four social priorities have been identified and together in partnership of government, community and business leaders, Living SJ will work together to make Greater Saint John a better place to live.

Our plan outlines the four social priorities that Living SJ will focus on for the next five years through a collective impact approach, how these priorities were determined and the initial actions underway to achieve solid solutions.
